LeichtbauCampus: neue Freunde Down under Open Hybrid LabFactory kooperiert mit Partnern in Australien
Hybrider Leichtbau spart Rohstoffe und Energie – und ist dementsprechend ein Zukunftsthema für Ingenieurinnen und Ingenieure rund um den Globus. Im Rahmen ihrer Internationalisierungsstrategie erweitert die Open Hybrid LabFactory der TU Braunschweig jetzt ihr Partnernetzwerk mit zwei Forschungsclustern in Australien: „Carbon Nexus“ in Geelong und einem weiteren an der University of New South Wales in Sydney. Die beiden neuen Allianzen sind Teil der Initiative „Asia Pacific“ – wie zuvor schon Forschungspartner in Singapur.

„Carbon Nexus“ gehört zur Deakin University und ist Teil des „Advanced Fibre Cluster“. In Geelong in der Nähe von Melbourne bearbeiten dort Forscher aus Hochschule und Unternehmen gemeinsam Projekte im Bereich der Kohlenstofffaserproduktion und Herstellung von Kompositen. Erste Projektideen wurden in einem zweitägigen Workshop erarbeitet. Das Ergebnis: Ein „Memorandum of Understanding“ zwischen der Open Hybrid LabFactory und Carbon Nexus bekräftigt die Absicht zur strategischen Zusammenarbeit.

Mit der University of New South Wales in Sydney pflegt die TU Braunschweig bereits eine mehrjährige erfolgreiche und etablierte Kooperation: Der Lehrstuhl für Nachhaltige Produktion & Life Cycle Engineering ist seit 2009 mit der Sustainable Manufacturing & Life Cycle Engineering Research Group der Universität verbunden.
In einem eintägigen Workshop haben Vertreter der OHLF, Vertreter der UNSW sowie Unternehmen der Region über die Zusammenatrbeit ausgetauscht. Auch hier gibt es nun ein „Memorandum of Understanding“ zu möglichen gemeinsamen Projekten im Bereich des hybriden Leichtbaus.
Sowohl der Workshop in Geelong als auch der Workshop in Sydney wurden durch das Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) unterstützt. Das AMGC ist eine industriegeführte, not-for-profit Organisation und ein zentrales Element der Australischen Regierung zur Entwicklung von Australien als ein weltführendes Land im Bereich der Produktion.

The Open Hybrid LabFactory starts new collaborations with in Australia
Hybrid lightweight construction saves raw materials and energy – and is therefore a topic of the future for engineers around the globe. As part of its internationalization strategy the Open Hybrid LabFactory of the TU Braunschweig is now expanding its partner network with two research institutions in Australia: the „Carbon Nexus“ cluster in Geelong and the University of New South Wales in Sydney. The two new alliances are part of the „Asia Pacific“ initiative – as previously the collaboration with partners in Singapore.
Beginning collaboration with future research cluster “Carbon Nexus” and “Adanced Fibre Cluster”
„Carbon Nexus“ is part of the Deakin University and also of the “Advanced Fibre Cluster” in Geelong, near Melbourne. Here Researchers from the University and companies work together on projects in the field of carbon fiber production and the manufacturing of composites. Initial project ideas were developed in a two-day workshop. The result: A Memorandum of Understanding between Open Hybrid LabFactory and Carbon Nexus confirms the intention for strategic cooperation.
University of New South Wales from Sydney is a new partner
With the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, TU Braunschweig has already cultivated a successful and established cooperation over several years: The Chair of Sustainable Manufacturing & Life Cycle Engineering has been associated with the Sustainable Manufacturing & Life Cycle Engineering Research Group of the University since 2009. In a one-day workshop, representatives of the OHLF, representatives of the UNSW and companies from the region discussed the cooperation. Here, too, a „Memorandum of Understanding“ on possible joint projects in the field of hybrid lightweight construction was signed.
Both the workshop in Geelong and the workshop in Sydney were supported by the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC). The AMGC is an industry-led, not-profit organization and a central element of the Australian government for the development of Australia as a world leader in the production sector.
