A taste for research: Summer Camp at TU Braunschweig Holiday programme at Campus Nord brings science to life

Which plants help wild bees? How does a 3D printer work? And can artificial intelligence invent funny new words? The “Summer Camp” at Technische Universität Braunschweig will provide answers to these and many other intriguing questions during the 2026 summer holidays.

From 4 to 7 August 2026, schoolchildren aged 10 to 14 can become researchers themselves at the North Campus of TU Braunschweig. In several-day-long workshops, they will experiment, discuss and conduct research under the guidance of students on current topics in the natural sciences, mathematics, technology and language.

Activities at the “LauF – Lust auf Forschen” summer camp include exploring the food sources of various wild bee species in a real and digital flower garden, hands-on physics experiments with 3D printing and rocket building, and an interdisciplinary project combining mathematics and biology focusing on plant stress. Social issues will also be covered: participants will critically examine health myths on social media. The German class gets creative when AI is used to invent funny words.

Another particular highlight is the cardio fitness equipment, where the young people can experience first-hand just how strenuous it would be to generate electricity for household appliances using their own muscle power. Organised by the departments of science education (biology and physics), mathematics and German studies, the aim of the summer camp is to bring science to life and spark curiosity about research.

Programmes take place at various locations across the North Campus of TU Braunschweig and are tailored to different age groups depending on the topic. Places are limited.

You can book the summer camp via the City of Braunschweig’s Sommer-FiBS programme: https://www.unser-ferienprogramm.de/braunschweig/programm.php?s=Lust+auf+forschen
