► A milestone on the path to system accreditation

External experts have reviewed the new quality management system for study and teaching. Their conclusion is very positive – in particular, they commended the high quality and the broad support within TU Braunschweig. Our sincere thanks go to everyone involved.

► President’s office hours

Anyone who has a concern or ideas – whether individually or as part of a small group – can discuss these confidentially with President Angela Ittel during the office hours on 23 July at 10.00. Please register with Karen Lehmann by emailing.

► Quality seal for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering reaffirmed

Our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has once again been awarded the quality seal by the Association of Faculties of Mechanical and Process Engineering (FTMV). The award, valid for the period 2027–2029, recognises the high quality of research, teaching and organisation. Factors regularly assessed include the proportion of third-party funding secured, the drop-out rate, compliance with curricular standards, internationalisation and the student-tutor ratio.

► For…Net Award for Anne Paschke and Sarah Rachut

The two professors from the Institute of Law have been honoured with the 13th For…Net Award. The prize recognises their outstanding commitment to a public-interest-oriented, legally sound digital transformation. Congratulations!

► Emerging Tech Fellowship successfully launched

In 2026, four international and national experts will be working alongside universities in Lower Saxony to explore the potential of artificial intelligence, extended reality and other future technologies. The first two fellows have already commenced their work.

► Architecture as a repository of our memories

Prof. Job Floris is the new Head of the Institute for Design and Spatial Composition. His research and teaching focus on public buildings and urban spaces as places of encounter, participation and collective identity. A warm welcome to him!

► Latest news on car park management

From 1 September, the car parks in the East (Langer Kamp, GITZ, Beethovenstraße) and North campus areas will also be integrated into the car park management system. If car park users in these areas have not yet created a user account, they can do so via the familiar link. Parking tickets can also be purchased via this link.

► Robotics for the ecological transformation of construction

For the upcoming issue of ARCH+, we are seeking new, environmentally sustainable robotics projects across the architectural value chain, from the design studio to the building site. Helga Blocksdorf and Katharina Benjamin from IKON at TU Braunschweig will serve as guest editors.

► Submit entries for the Ecoversity Seed Funding Call

With the Ecoversity Seed Funding Call “Serendipity by Design”, TU Braunschweig is supporting spaces that foster exchange and enable the joint development and implementation of new ideas. The call for tender has now been published by the Project House. Applications can be submitted until 10 September 2026.

► Henriette Herz Scouting Programme

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is funding the “Henriette Herz Scouting Programme”: selected professors can act as scouts to approach international talent and nominate them for a Humboldt Scholarship, which enables them to undertake a research stay at a German research facility.

► Real-world projects for STEM students

TU students presented their “Futurlink” concept at the FutureMINT Conference in Berlin: the platform is designed to make it easier for all STEM students to access projects in companies and at universities. The preceding thinkathon and the FutureMINT Conference form part of the “Zukunftsmission Bildung” (Education for the Future) initiative, through which the Stifterverband seeks innovative contributions to the further development of STEM higher education.

► New online training course for student assistants in teaching

In September, an online training course on knowledge transfer will begin for student assistants who support transfer-oriented courses. The course provides a concise overview of tools, services and funding opportunities that enable student assistants to support courses professionally. Registration via the ZPE.

► Save the Date: Registration opens for the 2026 Kinder-Uni

The three lectures at this year’s Braunschweig Kinder-Uni will be held under the theme of ‘Climate’. Registration opens online on 18 September. Many thanks to Prof. Vanessa Carlow, Prof. Magdalena Sut-Lohmann and Prof. Nils Goseberg for their willingness to deliver lectures to over 700 children aged between 8 and 12 during the winter semester.

► Our darling of the week

… is Marina Ohlendorf from the Institute of Aircraft Propulsion and Fluid Machinery. She won gold with the German women’s team and bronze in the singles at the 2026 European Bowling Championships in Bologna. A master precision engineer who works in the NFL’s communal workshop, she successfully combines top-level sport with her career. Congratulations!
