“Multidisciplinary Design Optimization”: Interview with Prof. Ali Elham Focus on Research: Energy Transition in Aviation

Multidisciplinary Design Optimization is the research area of Ali Elham, Professor for lightwight structures at the institute of aircraft design and lightweight structures at the TU Braunschweig. He uses methods of numerical optimization techniques in combination with high fidelity simulations to find the optimum configuration of an aircraft, which is 50 to 70 percent better than current aircrafts.
