► Braunschweig Fire Safety Days: Four decades of promoting safety

Since 1987, the Braunschweig Fire Safety Days have been bringing together experts from academia, industry and public authorities. To mark the 40th anniversary on 30 September and 1 October, the Audimax at TU Braunschweig will be focusing on new solutions for existing buildings, repurposing and current fire safety regulations.

► How cells move

How do cells find their way through the body? A team led by Prof. Klemens Rottner has deciphered the molecular processes that guide them. Researchers from TU Braunschweig and the HZI are providing new insights into how cell movement changes in pathological processes and how it might be specifically influenced.

► Better protection for synagogues

How can the security of synagogues – and, above all, that of their visitors and users – be improved? This is the focus of the project ‘Hiding in plain sight – Visible Architecture and Vulnerable Jews’, coordinated by Bet Tfila – the Research Centre for Jewish Architecture in Europe – from the perspectives of architecture, Jewish communities and the police.

► TU Braunschweig ranks among the world’s top 200 universities in three disciplines

In the new 2026 ShanghaiRanking, TU Braunschweig features in six subject areas. In three disciplines – aerospace engineering, electrical engineering and telecommunications – it ranks among the world’s top 200. The research ranking assessed more than 2,000 universities.

► Understanding Resilience – Personal Resources in Everyday Working Life

► Transfernale closing event

From 13 August to 1 October, the innovation festival toured the region, discussing topics for the future and bringing together the worlds of science and business. The closing event will now take place on 1 October at Volkswagen AG’s Innovation Fund II.

► School classes in ‘Future Mode’

What will the city of the future look like? What does food chemistry have to do with our everyday lives? And what can virtual reality do? In the new hands-on format BRAINSTORM, school classes explore future-oriented topics for themselves. TU Braunschweig will be at phaeno Wolfsburg on 2 October.

► Lecture on artificial intelligence at phaeno

Should we be concerned about the rise of artificial intelligence, or do the benefits outweigh the risks? This question will be discussed and examined from various perspectives as part of a series of lectures at phaeno on 1 October.

► Our favourites of the week

… are Elizabeth Berinyuy Nsai and Pascale Yvana Lele Kamga from the Centre Pasteur du Cameroun. The two scientists are spending four months as guests in Braunschweig. At TU and the HZI, they are conducting research into the diagnosis and treatment of chikungunya infections. Their research brings together international perspectives – and shines a brighter spotlight on a pathogen that has been little known until now.
