► TUmorrow Days: Sustainability awards presented
The TUmorrow Awards were presented on Thursday as part of the TUmorrow Days. Through these awards, the Green Office recognises scientific papers, student engagement and teaching methods that contribute to sustainable development. Congratulations to all the winners!
► In the spirit of diversity
On 11 June, our Pride flag was raised on University Square. Students, staff and members of the local community accepted the Diversity Office’s invitation and came together to send a message. At our university, diversity is not merely a ‘nice-to-have’. We see it as a prerequisite for excellent research and teaching, visible knowledge transfer activities and effective administration.
► Craig Crews awarded the 2026 Inhoffen Medal
The Friends of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research and TU Braunschweig have honoured Prof. Craig M. Crews of Yale University with the 2026 Inhoffen Medal. The natural products researcher is regarded as a pioneer of innovative therapeutic approaches. The award for outstanding achievements in organic chemistry and drug discovery was presented on 11 June in Braunschweig.
► “Two key technologies of the energy transition combined in one degree programme”
As one of five degree programmes, the Bachelor’s programme in “Battery and Hydrogen Technology” has won the MINTchallenge plus 2026. In an interview, programme spokesperson Prof. Michael Heere explains what makes studying at TU Braunschweig special.
► IdeenExpo: Discover TU Braunschweig through four missions
Lots of hands-on exhibits and a battery recycling quiz with Prof. Arno Kwade from the Institute of Particle Technology: From 20 to 28 June, school pupils can become researchers themselves at our stand. Many thanks to everyone supporting us on site and behind the scenes!
► HIT 2026: A resounding success
Once again this year, the University Information Day was a HIT! More than 2,000 visitors flocked to the Campus of TU Braunschweig to get a taste of university life for a day and find out about the range of courses on offer. A big thank you to everyone who supported the HIT and made it such a success!
► First on-site visit for system accreditation
On 9 and 10 July, the quality management system for studies and teaching will undergo an external assessment. The assessment is based on a self-evaluation report recently submitted to the accreditation agency ACQUIN.
► Shakespeare visits the media world
From 19 to 21 June, the TUBS Players will be presenting “Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream(s)” at the North Campus. The ensemble has transposed the classic “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” – a tale of the confusion of human emotions – into today’s media world.
► Participation in technology development
… is the topic of the next online lecture in the “Research in Dialogue” series of the “GeDiMINT” project. On 25 June, Dr Sandra Buchmüller (TU Dresden) will provide insights into the potential and pitfalls of involving users and stakeholders in technology development. Please complete registration with GeDiMINT.
► University Future Festival: “Screen Sculpture Workshop” with Louise Ward Morris
The sculptor has been Artist-in-Residence at the Science and Art Lab since the beginning of May. On 23 June, as part of the University Future Festival, anyone interested can join Ward Morris in creating an artistic installation from electronic waste. Please complete a registration with the Science and Art Lab.
► Conference: Flo(i)re, Flo(y)ris, Florio – On the Paradigm of “Intercultural Medieval Studies”
It is arguably the most widespread narrative theme of the European Middle Ages: the love story of Floire and Blancheflor. As an example of intercultural medieval studies, it is the focus of a conference taking place at our university from 18 to 20 June.
► Eight weeks, eight locations: Transfernale 2026
From 13 August to 1 October, the Innovation Festival will tour the region, discussing future-oriented topics, bringing together academia and industry, and strengthening collaborations. The series of events is a collaboration between iTUBS and the Alliance for the Region as part of the Regional Transformation Network of South-East Lower Saxony (ReTraSON).
► Postdoc programme for the second half of 2026 is online
From appointment negotiations and successful grant applications to social media in academia: postdocs in the R2–R3 career phases can once again look forward to a wide range of workshops, networking events and webcasts.
► Research Services advise young Japanese researchers
… at the “European Higher Education Forum (EHEF26)” organised by the European Delegation in Tokyo and Kyoto on current career options at TU Braunschweig.
► Call for entries: FAIR Data and Software Award Lower Saxony 2026
The Lower Saxony Research Data Management Initiative is once again seeking published research data and software that comply with the FAIR principles. Applications from all fields of study are welcome until 19 July.
► Our darling of the week
… made history just in time for the start of the Men’s World Cup: TU Braunschweig football team won the tournament organised by the university administrations of Lower Saxony and the Ministry of Science and Culture for the first time. In the final, the team beat the University of Göttingen. Congratulations on winning the trophy!
