Ideas wanted for the Hagenmarkt real-world laboratory Focus on the "City of the Future" research focus
Since summer 2021, Braunschweig’s Hagenmarkt has visibly changed: New seating, a pavilion, a café corner and useful plants could be discovered and used by citizens. In addition, architecture institutes of Technische Universität Braunschweig offered free workshops and discussion formats and invited people to engage with the topics of resilience and sustainability. The season of the “Reallabor Hagenmarkt” is set to start again in March. The project is looking for people who want to contribute their ideas and help decide how the square will be used in the summer of 2022.
The project “Reallabor Hagenmarkt” is more than just a venue. Citizens are to be deliberately involved in the planning and design in order to shape the place and the programme together. In the “Reallabor Hagenmarkt”, various university topics are brought into society and sustainable solutions are developed together.
From sustainability to safety
Now members of TU Braunschweig or even entire institutes are being sought who would like to participate. The only prerequisite: the ideas should revolve around the research focus “City of the Future”. In short: ideas on how to improve living together in the city and how to adapt future conditions accordingly. The main topics are “sustainability”, “health” and “city in transition”, but offers, campaigns and events on the topics of “digitalisation”, “mobility” and “security” can also be realised. The team supports the conception and implementation and creates financial and organisational foundations so that the projects can be successfully realised.
Anyone who would like to support the “real-world lab” in other ways and take joint responsibility for the location and programme planning is also welcome to contact the team. You can submit your ideas as a project on the TU Braunschweig sandbox platform or write an email to reallabor-hagenmarkt@tu-braunschweig.de.
