Comeback for the Campuslauf 400 athletes sprinted across the university grounds
After a four-year break, TU Braunschweig’s Campuslauf (campus run) finally took place again. In perfect weather, around 400 participants started on 11 June to run either the 5-kilometre fun run or the 10-kilometre main run across the university grounds. The sporting event, organised by the Sports Centre, was opened by our President Angela Ittel.
To reach the finish line, participants had to run the course from the sports field on Franz-Liszt-Straße, along Beethovenstraße, across the North Campus grounds and back to the sports field via Ottenroder Straße. “It was an extremely successful comeback,” said a delighted Florian Schneider, organiser of the 13th campus run at the Sports Centre. “Many new and old familiar faces put in great performances!”
After a little more than a quarter of an hour, the first athletes crossed the finish line. With 17:14 minutes, Konrad Stamer secured victory for the men’s 5-kilometre fun run. Runners Paul Lüneburg (17:19 min) and Oliver Tesch (17:24 min) needed only a few seconds more for the distance. In the women’s race, Helena Rejzkova crossed the finish line first in 21:23 minutes. Silke Schitteck came second (22:29 min) and Julia Nachtigall third (22:30 min).
Trophies for the winners
The winner of the men’s 10-kilometre main run was Henry Brauns with a time of 35:03 minutes. Nicolas Rohde (35:11 min) and Sebastian Radecker (35:13 min) secured second and third place. First place in the women’s race was Joke Evenblij with 41:55 minutes. Shortly after, second-placed Mari Ines Peeck (47:32 min) and third-placed Miriam Herrmann (48:28 min) crossed the finish line.
The Campuslauf ended on Sunday with the award ceremony. Trophies were awarded to the first to third place finishers as well as the three best teams (Eintracht BS Wintersport, Unischwimmen and Bohlweg Seitenstechen) and the largest team with 13 people (Bohlweg Seitenstechen). “It was a nice event all around,” emphasised Mathias Steiln, Head of the Sports Centre.
