Additive Manufacturing in Construction: Awards for outstanding research Best Paper Award at Digital Concrete in Loughborough
At this year’s Digital Concrete in Loughborough, the leading international conference for digital fabrication with concrete, scientists from the Collaborative Research Centre TRR 277 Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC) received no less than two awards.
Dr. Inka Mai, Friedrich Herding and Professor Dirk Lowke from the Institute of Building Materials, Concrete Construction and Fire Safety (iBMB) at Technische Universität Braunschweig won the Best Paper Award for their evaluation of the use of methyl cellulose for selective cement activation. Their paper entitled “Evaluating the Effect of Methyl Cellulose on Hardened State Properties in Selective Cement Activation” convinced the panel of judges.
Yinan Xiao from the Institute of Structural Design (ITE) also received the prize for the Best Student Presentation. He presented the paper “Injection 3D Printing (i3DCP) Combined with Vector-based 3D Graphic Statics”, which was written by him and the co-authors Noor Khadher, Aileen Vandenberg, Professor Dirk Lowke, Professor Harald Kloft and Professor Norman Hack.
