A place to live, learn, research and work: The journey towards a new science quarter on the North Campus of Technische Universität Braunschweig continues. After the successful completion of the previous steps CO_NFERENCE and CO_WORKSHOP, the next step of the cooperation project CO_LIVING CAMPUS between Technische Universität Braunschweig and the city of Braunschweig starts with CO_WETTBEWERB on 4 March.

With the CO_LIVING CAMPUS on the North Campus, the city and university want to lay the foundations for a variety of research projects and living labs and thus trigger an innovation boost for the science city of Braunschweig and the research region of Lower Saxony. CO_WETTBEWERB, which begins on Monday 4 March on the North Campus and runs until 15 March, is an experimental planning format at the interface between participation and urban planning workshop procedures. Based on the results of the previous steps, urban development options will be developed and presented. The contributions from the CO_WORKSHOP serve as an important basis for this. In the last CO_WORKSHOP in October 2023, 46 participants from the urban community and TU Braunschweig developed recommendations and ideas.

A central component of CO_WETTBEWERB is a two-week workshop on site at the North Campus with four planning teams consisting of offices with expertise in urban planning and cooperative neighbourhood development and students. Through this Winter School, students can gain experience in experimental, practical planning processes and contribute ideas to the future design of the North Campus.

Evening events will make the working process and results of the workshop transparent and accessible to the public at an early stage. The workshop will start on Monday 4 March with evening lectures from the offices. Interim and final presentations of the four urban designs are scheduled for 8 and 15 March. These public evenings will take place from 18:00 to 20:30 in the lecture hall building on the North Campus, and registration is not required.
