► New professorship by TU Braunschweig and Volkswagen Group

TU Braunschweig is establishing a professorship in AI for product development in collaboration with the Volkswagen Group. The aim is to further expand research in the mobility sector and to accelerate the transfer of scientific knowledge into industrial practice. The professorship will be located at the Institute of Engineering Design.

► “Wissenschaftsschaufenster” remains in Braunschweig city centre

The “Wissenschaftsschaufenster” (Science Showcase) at Waisenhausdamm 8 is a model of success. This is why the temporary shop premises in the city centre will continue to offer insights into the work of scientists from the Braunschweig Research Region next year, too.

► Inaugural lecture

From 1 June, prospective students can apply to our university to study one of 94 degree programmes. New for the winter semester are the Master’s degree programme Battery and Hydrogen Technology and the Bioentrepreneurship specialisation.

► Getting ready for university: the application period opens on 1 June

Prof. Merle Hinrichsen, Institute for Educational Sciences, will hold her inaugural lecture “Außerschulische Bildungsforschung in gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen – methodologische Einsätze und theoretische Erträge” on 3 June.

► Support needed for Lower Saxony Day

Volunteers are still being sought to help out at the stands in the MWK tent and the ForschungRegion Braunschweig tent for Lower Saxony Day (12–14 June). The volunteering role will include the representation of our university, the distribution of merchandise and the engagement with visitors. If you have one or two hours to spare, please contact Annika Kleinwächter or Jessica Koch.

► „Impulshäppchen“: Longevity in the workplace

The Professional and Personnel Development team invites you to the next digital lunch event. On 8 June, Dr Ursula Wagner will share insights on how we can stay healthy, fulfilled and capable of taking action in the long term. No registration is required.

► TUmorrow Days: Film “The Weight of the World”

An inspiring look at climate change from the perspective of scientists: as part of TUmorrow Days, the film “The Weight of the World” will be screened on 10 June at the Universum Filmtheater in Braunschweig. The director and two of the film’s protagonists will be in attendance. Secure your tickets now!

► Picnic at the Schilfgarten

The Climate Future Lab OpenCultures invites you to the first picnic at the Schilfgarten, Bienroder Weg 85. On 2 June at 5 pm, there will be a lively discussion. Under the heading: “Far-fetched theories? Gut feelings and visions for the future of Campus North”, the event will kick off with a discussion about the open spaces on the campus.

► Research meets police practice

The police wish to play a greater role as a practical partner in interdisciplinary research projects in the future. Topics of interest include urban safety, digitalisation and social cohesion. To this end, the Braunschweig Police Headquarters is hosting an event on 16 June.

► Enriching your own research and sharing it with society

From 1 June, PhD students and postdocs can apply for the Call for Impact, which provides funding of up to €1,000 for six months and includes coaching support. The aim is to enrich research through new perspectives and ideas from non-academic groups and, in turn, to share this knowledge with the wider community.

► Call for Applications for Postdoc International Mobility Grants

The Impulsfonds grant programme supports postdocs of our university in participating in international exchange programs and research stays abroad, as well as in developing their research profiles and international collaborations. The current call for applications is open until 1 August.

► Our darling of the week

… are all the researchers taking part in the Science Salon on 3 June. Around 30 scientists from the region will be discussing their research topics in one-to-one conversations, answering curious questions and offering surprising perspectives. An evening that brings science to life. Representing our university will be: Dr Liubov Bakhchova, Prof. Julia Gebert, Dr Maximilian Flormann, Dr Hannes Müller-Thomy and Dr Marie Ritter.
