► First trophy for Germany: TU Braunschweig wins in Boston
Even before the World Cup kicked off, TU Braunschweig secured a German title in Boston: at the prestigious RFIC Symposium, researchers took first place for Germany in the “Best Student” category for the first time. Their innovative frequency tripler for radar applications prevailed against the international competition. Congratulations!
► Using drones to search for particles
Researchers from TU Braunschweig are investigating, off the Irish coast, how aerosols form in the vicinity of the sea and influence the climate. They will be collecting measurement data using drones in June. The DFG-funded EICA project is being carried out in collaboration with partners from Tübingen and Leipzig.
► Inaugural lecture
Prof. Thomas Kämpfe, Institute of Neuromorphic Computing, will hold his inaugural lecture “The Energy Cost of Thought — and How Memories Are Paying It Down” on 23 June.
► 2026 Alumni Award: TU Braunschweig honoured
The alumni team at TU Braunschweig has been awarded the 2026 “Premium D-A-CH” Alumni Award by the association alumni-clubs.net (acn). The award recognises its strategic approach to strengthening alumni management through the central Alumni & Career service centre. Congratulations!
► Green and blue solutions for overheated cities
How landscape architects are shaping adaptation to climate change – this is the focus of the “ACT NOW” event in Berlin on 25 June, hosted by the Institute of Landscape Architecture. The focus will be on a preview of the film, which emerged from the “STRESSTEST” contribution to the German Pavilion at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale.
► “Make the healthy choice the easier choice”
On 16 June, Dr Carola Reimann, Chair of the AOK Federal Association, was invited to the “Alumni*ae in the Spotlight” talk. There, she explained why public health encompasses far more than merely treating illnesses, and why prevention is one of our society’s key responsibilities.
► Lecture: “IT security: How you can actively protect yourself in everyday life”
Spotting fraudulent emails, creating strong passwords and using password managers correctly: these are the topics on offer for those interested at Digital Day 2026. The presentation by the Designated Office for Information Security will take place on 26 June in the University Library.
► Startups X Talents
The matching event on 30 June offers the opportunity to get to know ten start-ups from the Braunschweig ecosystem. We are looking for people with an interest in innovation and entrepreneurial work who would like to get involved in a start-up.
► Financing for projects related to Gender Studies
The Braunschweig Centre for Gender Studies offers all institutes at TU Braunschweig and their members financial funding for teaching assignments, guest lectures and student assistants. Further information on application deadlines and the application process can be found here.
► VDI scholarship for sustainable theses
Students at TU Braunschweig can submit an application for the VDI scholarship with a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis on sustainable technologies. The scholarship offers funding, mentoring and networking opportunities.
► Horizon Europe: Australian partners can participate in proposals
From January 2027, a transitional arrangement will come into force, enabling organisations based in Australia to be involved in EU projects. Organisations in associated countries will be treated on an equal footing with participants from EU Member States.
► Ideas workshop on virtual learning spaces using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method
On 23 June, students, teaching staff and researchers will work together to develop innovative concepts for virtual spaces, immersive experiences and new forms of knowledge transfer. Please register here.
► Our darling of the week
… is the Future Tech:Stage Braunschweig, part of the University:Future Festival, which brings the future of academic education to our university next Tuesday. Following the packed stage programme, the Changemaker Café at the Ecoversity Hub offers a relaxed atmosphere for discussions, including with President Angela Ittel and astronaut Rabea Rogge.
