Editorship of the “Review of Policy Research” Renowned journal to be published by the CoPPP Institute in future

In July, Professor Nils C. Bandelow, Director of the Institute of Comparative Politics and Public Policy (CoPPP) at TU Braunschweig, together with his research associates Johanna Hornung and Dr. Colette S. Vogeler, took over the editorship of the international journal Review of Policy Research (RPR) of the Policy Studies Organisation. The team is supported by research assistant Ilana Schröder.

This is the first time since its founding forty years ago that the Review of Policy Research journal has been published by a university outside the United States or Canada. “We are delighted that we have been chosen. We want to continue RPR successfully and make TU Braunschweig even more visible to the outside world through our editorship,” says Professor Nils C. Bandelow.

As a journal of the STEP (Science, Technology and Environmental Politics) section of the American Political Science Association (APSA), there is a special focus on topics related to science, technology and environmental policy. “Already, some of TU Braunschweig’s focal points are covered. In view of the current challenges in the Corona pandemic, we would like to expand the range of topics to include health policy,” announces Professor Bandelow. Just like his institute, RPR also pursues an interdisciplinary approach.

Opening the journal to all continents

CoPPP has long been the publisher of another journal under the umbrella of the Policy Studies Organisation: European Policy Analysis (EPA), which focuses on the European perspective. The journal RPR, which has now been taken over, is traditionally dominated by North American scholarship. “Recently, however, there has been an increase in submissions from Chinese researchers,” describes Johanna Hornung of the CoPPP. “Of course, we will work hard to continue to include the North American perspective in RPR, but we also want to open the journal to research and perspectives from all continents.”
