PhD student prize for natural product research

Dr Anton Möllerke from the Institute of Organic Chemistry at TU Braunschweig has been awarded the PhD Student Prize for Natural Products Research by DECHEMA, Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V., for his outstanding scientific achievements.

Dr Möllerke succeeded in exploring the extraordinary chemistry of collembolans (springtails), which differs significantly from the chemistry of insects, and discovered a large number of natural products. Springtails belong to the class of tetrapods, are between 0.1 and 17 mm long and live in humus layers and on decaying plant material, among other places.
