Flagship project GOe FUTURE becomes a start-up factory for life sciences
The GOe FUTURE initiative, in which TU Braunschweig is also involved, is receiving funding of up to €10 million as part of the ‘Startup Factories’ flagship competition organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). With an additional €10 million in private capital, the initiative now has up to €20 million to strengthen the life sciences ecosystem in the Göttingen-Hanover-Braunschweig region. The initiative aims to triple the number of start-ups and promote the transfer of scientific knowledge for the benefit of patients worldwide. By fostering robust partnerships between universities, businesses, local authorities, and political bodies, Lower Saxony aspires to become a premier European hub for life sciences spin-offs.
Particularly noteworthy: GOe FUTURE is one of the few thematically focused Startup Factories, and the only one with a clear focus on the life sciences.
The project draws on the significant innovation, knowledge transfer and talent potential of its 13 partner institutions, including TU Braunschweig, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), the University Medical Centre Göttingen (UMG), the University of Göttingen (UGOE), Hannover Medical School (MHH), Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM).
The initiative’s specific aim is to increase the number of start-ups in the life sciences sector to over 100 per year within five years.
