On 22 April 2026, Prof. Thomas Kürner from the Institute for Communications Technology was presented with the EurAAP Propagation Award by the European Association on Antennas and Propagation at the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation in Dublin. The prize recognises the lifetime achievements of scientists for outstanding contributions to research and teaching in the field of antennas and propagation, as well as for the coordination of research and networking activities in Europe and beyond.
Prof. Kürner received the award for his “outstanding contributions to the modelling of millimetre-wave and terahertz propagation, as well as to international standardisation”. Previous recipients include his doctoral supervisor, Prof. Werner Wiesbeck, and Prof. Henry Bertoni, one of the world’s leading experts in the modelling of radio propagation in cellular mobile networks.
