Digital Concrete Conference 2024: Scientists from TU Braunschweig honoured
At the Digital Concrete Conference 2024 in Munich, two outstanding young scientists from TU Braunschweig were honoured for their research. Niklas Freund received the Best Presentation Award, while Robin Dörrie was honoured with the Best Paper Award. Both are PhD students in the Collaborative Research Centre ‘Additive Manufacturing in Construction’ (AMC) and impressed with their contributions to 3D printing in the construction industry.
Organised by the Technical University of Munich, Technische Universität Braunschweig, the RILEM Association and the AMC, the three-day conference attracted more than 400 international researchers in the field of digital manufacturing in construction. Participants discussed the latest developments in 3D printing in the construction industry and its potential to make construction processes more efficient, digital and sustainable. The focus was on topics such as innovative manufacturing processes and materials research. Particularly exciting were the discussions on the extent to which the research results can be transferred to practice and thus to the construction site.
Even before the start of Digital Concrete, two workshops for PhD students had taken place in Braunschweig, where the Digital Building Fabrication Laboratory and the Digital Construction Site were in full swing. The aim of these workshops was to advance research and integration of 3D printing in the construction industry and to exchange ideas with other international researchers. The next Digital Concrete conference will take place in two years’ time, this time in Nanjiing, China.
