CoastDoc 2025: Meeting place for doctoral students in coastal research

From 24 to 26 September 2025, doctoral students in coastal research will meet at the Technical University of Braunschweig for CoastDoc – an annual conference organised by doctoral students for doctoral students. The aim of the event is to provide young researchers with a space where they can present their work, discuss research progress, build networks and talk openly about the challenges of pursuing a PhD.

This year, CoastDoc is being organised by Aileen Brendel, Henri Busch and Niklas Czerner at the Leichtweiß Institute for Hydraulic Engineering (LWI), Department of Hydromechanics, Coastal Engineering and Marine Construction. The programme includes a series of presentations by participants (on topics such as coastal protection, sediment transport and the consequences of climate change), a practical workshop on research data management, and technical tours of the test facilities at the Leichtweiß Institute for Hydraulic Engineering (LWI) in Braunschweig and the Coastal Research Centre (FZK) in Hanover. The conference will be rounded off by joint after-work activities that promote personal exchange.
