Climate Protection Partner: Holz Ziegel Lehm – pilot project honoured
At this year’s “Klimaschutzpartner des Jahres“ (Climate Protection Partner of the Year) awards, the project “Holz Ziegel Lehm – Pilot Project Sustainable Housing Berlin” was honoured in the category “Projects of Public Institutions”. The research and construction project is being realised by STADT UND LAND Wohnbauten-Gesellschaft mbH together with the general planning team ZRS Architekten and Bruno Fioretti Marquez and is being scientifically monitored and evaluated by the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture at TU Braunschweig, TU Berlin and the University of Stuttgart.
With two new buildings, one in wood-clay construction and one in brick construction, it demonstrates the potential of sustainable construction in public rental housing under real laboratory conditions. The Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture is involved with hygrothermal simulations to assess the passive potential of the architecture and sustainable materials to reduce the system technology, and is assisting with monitoring after completion of the buildings.
The winners of the “Klimaschutzpartner des Jahres“ competition were announced on 15 May at the Berlin Energy Days. 18 projects competed for the Berlin Business Climate Protection Award.
