Emergency fund for refugee students and researchers from Ukraine TU Braunschweig and Braunschweigischer Hochschulbund call for donations
Technische Universität Braunschweig shows solidarity with the people in Ukraine and is now offering comprehensive assistance to Ukrainian students of the TU and university staff as well as to refugees. Together with the Braunschweigische Hochschulbund e.V. (BHB), the university has set up an emergency fund for students and researchers who have fled Ukraine. Further support and consultation offers have already been launched and will further be developed according to demand. The website of the TU Braunschweig “We care for Ukraine” is the central platform of these offers.
With the emergency fund “Ukraine Hilfe”, TU Braunschweig and Braunschweigischer Hochschulbund would like to provide the best possible assistance to students and scientists from Ukraine who have fled and support them in making a new start on the campus of TU Braunschweig. The collected donations are used to provide basic equipment for the start at TU Braunschweig, serve to finance places in the programme “Bridges4Refugees”, help to set up additional German courses and to pay tuition fees. In addition, the emergency fund supports Ukrainian students who are already at TU Braunschweig and may now be in need of aid and scholarships to continue their studies.

Further support offers started
Parallel to the emergency fund, the International House of TU Braunschweig coordinates further support offers: A central contact point answers questions of refugee prospective students as well as students and researchers from Ukraine. For Ukrainian students, researchers and employees of TU Braunschweig, information consultation and contact points have been created to help with questions and concerns. In addition, a peer support programme for Ukrainian refugee students and researchers was launched, which provides peer-supporters who help refugees in dealing with the authorities, in everyday life, or in finding their way around the German university system.
New website brings together all the support offers
All support offers are centralized on a new website under the motto “We care for Ukraine”: https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/we-care-for-ukraine. The information on the website is updated regularly. Anyone who would like to help will find the right contact point here – be it for translating, donations or if they have ideas for further offers of assistance.
Further information for refugees is available on the following website as well: https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/refugees.
