Welcome to TU Braunschweig Orientation programme for newly enrolled international students

Starting at a new university and in a foreign country can be an exciting experience, but also a major challenge. Until the end of April, the International House of TU Braunschweig, student initiatives, and faculties are offering a wide range of orientation events to help new international students get settled in Braunschweig despite the Corona restrictions and soon feel at home here.

It is the common goal of everyone involved to make sure that international students get off to a good start and that their time in Braunschweig proves to be a successful and valuable experience. The programme takes place regularly in the first weeks of the semester and offers excellent opportunities to get to know the university and make new friends. This year, due to the Corona pandemic, the orientation events are being offered almost exclusively online, but it is still worthwhile to take part: after all, it is especially important for international first-year students to establish relationships now – even if this happens on a digital basis.

All the way from Easter quizzes to city rallies

There are almost 40 events included in the orientation programme for the summer semester. In addition to information sessions, workshops, guided tours and city rallies, workouts and a lot more are offered – of course in compliance with the Corona regulations.

During the information sessions of the Incoming Team, newly enrolled international students receive all the important information about starting their studies: including the student ID, y-number and information about contacting the Immigration Office. And of course, there is also plenty of time for questions. The Language Centre will present opportunities to learn German and foreign languages at TU Braunschweig and will also give an insight into the peer learning programme “S.o.S. – Studying without Language Barriers”. The Gauss Friends and the Erasmus Student Network Braunschweig (ESN) offer students the opportunity to get to know each other in a casual atmosphere and to talk about their first days in Germany during online cooking evenings, an online Easter quiz or a joint online workout. The networking programmes “inTU” and “SCOUT” also invite all interested students to join their info sessions.
