► Digital lessons in the “Teaching Lab”
Opportunities and challenges of digital teaching? Not only teachers, but also parents and their schoolchildren can tell you a thing or two about it. Professor Oliver Bodensiekfrom the Institute for Didactics of Science works in the “Teaching Lab” and conducts research on digital skills in teacher training. In an interview, he reveals how augmented and virtual reality glasses can be used in this context. The glasses on the Picture of the Month May are already being used successfully in physics teacher training. Speaking of “Picture of the Month”, we look forward to receiving your suggestions for June at presse@tu-braunschweig.de.
► How to act ethically in times of corona
The pandemic has triggered an intense debate on ethics. Professor Stefan Heuser explains how we act correctly in the crisis and where we reach our ethical limits.
► Tips from the family office
Are you in home office or home study? The Family Office has collected offers and information for the everyday life and leisure time of parents with children who are in home office or home study. The family office is working on further support offers and can also be found on Facebook and Instagram under “familienbuerotubs” for the exchange of personal impressions and recommendations.
► Digital LehrLEO Award
“And the winner is…” On Teaching Day, the LehrLEO Award was presented again this year, with the winners being honoured in five categories. Nominations were made for events that particularly inspired the students last year. For the first time, the awards were presented digitally instead of in a big ceremony. The greetings and the announcement of the winners were recorded in advance on video. We congratulate the winners warmly! For all of you who missed the keynote by the Swedish teaching expert Professor Kristina Edström: it is now available for download.
Many thanks by video
A warm thank you is coming via video from Professor Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, President of TU Braunschweig, and Professor Knut Baumann, Vice President for Studies and Teaching. In the video interview, they explain how the exams are progressing, how the hygiene standards are being maintained and what they are missing most in the university.
► Digital invoices: Another building block on the way to digital administration
The Staff Unit Project Management Office (PMO) implements major administrative projects that have a university-wide impact. One such major project is the X-invoices, which have been accepted at the Carolo-Wilhelmina since April 2020. The aim is not only to meet legal requirements, but also to increase quality and facilitate the work of employees.
► Eating in Mensa 2 and the Company Canteen
Students and employees on the eastern campus will again be supplied by the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen. The cafeteria of Mensa 2 is open. From Monday to Friday from 08.00 – 14.00 hours, the team offers sandwiches, baked goods, cold and warm drinks as well as hot lunches. The same applies here as for the food trucks: Payment is only possible without cash (with TUCard/MensaCard) and all meals are only offered for take-away. Click here for the menu. At the main campus the Sozialraum offers another option for lunch on campus. The current menu can be found on the website, and meals can be pre-ordered by telephone and picked up between 10.30 and 13.00. Lunchtime.
► Deadline extension for your defective bike
The mobility team has marked unroadworthy bicycles in the last weeks to remove them from existing parking facilities after 4 weeks. If you have parked a flat or broken bicycle at TU parking facilities for a longer period of time but cannot remove it due to the current corona situation, please inform the Mobility Team at radentsorgung@tu-braunschweig.de with details of the model, colour, frame number and location. Your deadline will then be extended accordingly.
► Darling of the week
Our darling of this week is currently in France, waiting for good weather. The new TU research aircraft, a Cessna F406, was converted there for its scientific missions. With a preliminary French registration it is completing its first test flights and we are looking forward to when it finally lands in Braunschweig.
