► Outstanding family-friendliness

TU Braunschweig has once again been awarded the ‘audit familiengerechte hochschule’ certificate. This marks the second time it has received this accolade in recognition of its long-standing and sustained commitment to promoting family-friendly working and study conditions. The certificate is regarded as a seal of quality for a strategically planned policy on work-life balance.

► Prof. Gabriele G. Kiefer becomes a member of the Berlin Climate Adaptation Advisory Board

Prof. Gabriele G. Kiefer, Head of the Institute of Landscape Architecture, has been appointed to the City of Berlin’s new Berlin Climate Adaptation Advisory Board. Established by the Senate, the scientific advisory board will provide expert guidance on the city’s climate adaptation policy in future.

► 250 PhDs for international space research

The International Max Planck Research School for Solar System Science is celebrating its 250th PhD. The joint graduate school of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, the University of Göttingen and TU Braunschweig strengthens international space research through research in the fields of astrophysics, geosciences and instrumentation.

► Deutschlandstipendium: Supporting the future

Sponsors are still being sought for the Deutschlandstipendium, which supports students at our university during their studies. Students can apply for funding for the 2026/27 academic year until 30 June.

► Tim Seifert to attend this year’s meeting of Nobel laureates

As one of 600 young international researchers, the PhD student in physics at the Institute of Applied Physics will meet over 70 Nobel laureates in Lindau from 28 June to 3 July 2026. He was nominated by his supervisor, Prof. Uta Schlickum, head of the ‘Nanoscopic Systems’ research group at TU Braunschweig.

► New guide to sustainable event planning

How can event organisers at our university plan events in a resource-efficient and climate-conscious manner? Answers to these questions are provided in a new guide published by the Sustainability Council and the Green Office.

► Enriching your own research and sharing it with society

From 1 June, PhD students and postdocs can apply for the Call for Impact, which funds projects for half a year with up to 1,000 euros and offers coaching support. The aim is to enrich research through new perspectives and ideas from non-academic target groups and, in turn, to share this knowledge with the general public.

► AI avatars – their potential for application-oriented teaching

They are among the most exciting technological trends in the field of education. On 2 July, Dr Lukas Dehmel (GEI, Emerging Tech Lab) will report on his experiences with AI avatars in a higher education context. Click here to register.

► Quantista! An afternoon of games on quantum physics

Together with researchers from the Institute of Semiconductor Technology, the Science and Art Lab invites you to take part in activities at the Temporary Architecture Pavilion on Burgplatz on 2 July. Afterwards, Prof. Stefanie Kroker and Artist in Residence Louise Ward Morris will discuss their different fields of work and methods.

► Fire, Funk and A Midsummer Night’s Dream

… awaits visitors to the end-of-semester concerts. The TU Big Band kicks off this varied summer of concerts with well-known classics, jazz and funk. The University Choir focuses on the element of fire. And the TU Orchestra presents a symphonic comedy of mistaken identity featuring music from Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Be sure to pop along, prick up your ears and enjoy the show!

► Recommended absence for students: Festival on the North Campus

On 3 July from 4 pm, students and other interested parties will be celebrating on the North Campus. President Angela Ittel asks lecturers to allow students to attend.

► Our darlings of the week

… are the faculties, research assistants and student assistants who are inspiring young people with TU topics at the IdeenExpo. Over the past few days, numerous visitors have already tried out our exhibits. Among them: President Angela Ittel and guests from the worlds of politics and business. This weekend, the programme continues with a quiz on battery recycling, led by our Vice-President for Transfer and Innovation, Prof. Arno Kwade. Be sure to pop by!
