Youngest research assistant at the TU at 22

Jan Nordmeier, born in 2001, started work as a research assistant at the Institute of Joining and Welding Technology in March, making him the youngest research assistant at TU Braunschweig. He also completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering here in 2022. He then moved to Scotland, where he completed his Master’s degree in Production at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow at the beginning of the year. The topic of his thesis is “Machine learning based modelling and analysis of anomalous defects in new vehicle filling processes”. Nordmeier has been working at the Light Metal Centre Soltau LMZS since 1 March. The LMZS operates Europe’s only university die-casting facility in an industrial environment.
