Japanese-German Symposium at TU Braunschweig
On 24 and 25 May, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the German Society of JSPS Scholars are organising the 27th Japanese-German Symposium at TU Braunschweig.
The symposium takes place annually at different locations in German-speaking countries on current topics. The theme of this year’s event is “How We Can Learn from Nature”. Participants can expect a varied programme with presentations by speakers from various German and Japanese universities on current research topics.
From biomimetics in engineering to research into biosignalling and biomechanics of tissues to lectures on the interdependence of humans, the environment and psychology, a wide range of topics will be offered – a good opportunity to look beyond one’s own specialist field. TU Braunschweig will be represented with contributions from Professor Nicole Karafyllis and Professor Markus Böl.
One highlight is the opening lecture by Count Siegwart zu Eulenburg und Hertefeld, who will talk about the Eulenburg Mission in 1861, which is seen as the starting point for German-Japanese relations.
Participation in the lectures is free of charge for members of TU Braunschweig. Please register here by 26 April: To the online registration
Networking event on research stays in Japan
In the run-up to the symposium, an exchange of experiences on the topic of “Research stays in Japan” will take place on 24 May at 11:00 a.m., to which interested doctoral candidates and Master’s students are cordially invited. The event will kick off with three short keynote speeches on research stays in Japan. Afterwards, there will be room for networking and discussion with the speakers. Open questions regarding the organisation or planning of a research stay in Japan can be discussed.
