Honouring anniversaries and farewells
For the second time, TU Braunschweig honoured staff members celebrating 25 and 40 years of emplyment. Simultaneously, farewells were paid to colleagues who will be retiring in 2024 after many years of active work. Dietmar Symrek, Vice President of Human Resources, Finance and University Buildings, presented the personal tributes and led the ceremony, to which the Executive Board invited guests to the Architecture Pavilion.
“You have shaped TU Braunschweig with your commitment and expertise. As part of the university, you have contributed to making TU Braunschweig what it is today in a variety of workplaces,’ said Vice President Dietmar Smyrek, thanking the long-term employees and the newly retired. “I appreciate you coming to this ceremony and would like to thank you personally for your work and your commitment to TU Braunschweig.”
Dr Maurice Scheer and Ulrike Wrobel welcomed the award winners on behalf of the Staff Council and the Equal Opportunities Department. Ulrike Wrobel, Equal Opportunities Officer, emphasised that this event in particular showed that “through your work and your achievements, you not only contribute to stability, but also create an environment in which students and employees can flourish. Your service anniversaries and retirement ceremonies are visible signs of the reliability and responsibility you have shown over the years.”
On behalf of the Staff Council, Dr Maurice Scheer was full of praise for the many ways in which both the celebrants and the farewells were involved in numerous committees. “Volunteering and standing up for others is not something you take for granted. It takes time on top of your ‘real work’, which you often have to carve out, but your commitment is priceless for our university.”
The certificates were handed over at the end of the ceremony. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to chat with colleagues and mentors from previous years over a light snack.
