Liontech Instruments UG, a spin-off from the Institute for Communications Technology at the TU Braunschweig, won 4th place among around 80 competitors in the nationwide business plan competition start2grow in Dortmund with its business model. At the ‘Start-up Competition – Digital Innovations’ organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWiK), the Braunschweig-based company was awarded the start-up prize.
The start-up, funded by the EXIST start-up grant, develops hardware-based malware protection made in Germany. This novel technology can detect and prevent specialised attacks where conventional software-based malware protection reaches its limits. The hardware modules from Liontech Instruments monitor the memory and can also detect and prevent new types of attacks using the latest machine learning methods. Practical testing of the security module is scheduled to begin at a pilot customer’s site in April 2025.
