Angela Ittel new Chairwoman of the Board of ForschungRegion Braunschweig

Professor Angela Ittel, President of Technische Universität Braunschweig, takes over the chairmanship of ForschungRegion Braunschweig this year. With her experience in TU9, the German Rectors’ Conference and international networks, and with the aim of developing a “science ecosystem” that brings the partners in the research region closer together, she will lead the work of the association into an exciting future.

Professor Angela Ittel succeeds Professor Folkhard Isermeyer, President of the Thünen-Institut. Under his leadership, the Salon der Wissenschaft and the Sciecons were established in Braunschweig. The Salon der Wissenschaft will remain part of the ForschungRegion and will be further developed under the direction of Professor Ittel. The next event will take place on 18 June 2025 in the Trafo Hub.

With TU President Angela Ittel, the ForschungRegion is launching a new highlight for the city centre: the Science Showcase. A vacant shop at Waisenhausdamm 8 will become a place where science can be experienced in the midst of everyday life. Regional research institutions will present their topics and results to make science accessible to everyone. At the same time, it will set an example for the vacancy rate in the city centre.
