Welcome, freshers! Here’s how to get started at TU Braunschweig At home in the future – right from the start
On 19 October, TU Braunschweig will kick off the 2026/27 winter semester with the central reception for first-year students at the Eintracht Stadium. Afterwards, the ‘Studying is more …’ information fair on the Central Campus will provide details on study programmes, counselling, student involvement and life in Braunschweig. For international students, the start of the semester begins a week earlier with the Welcome Week.
On Monday 19 October at 9 am, new students at TU Braunschweig will gather at the Eintracht Stadium for the central reception for first-year students. For the 14th time, the stands will thus become what is probably the university’s largest lecture hall. President Angela Ittel will welcome the first-year students; the event will be held in German and English. No registration is required.
This year, too, welcoming speeches, academic content and entertainment will go hand in hand: TU President Angela Ittel will welcome the students, and there will be a trampoline show, Indian dance and musical accompaniment by AkaBlas. There will also be an exciting short lecture by Prof. Carsten Schilde on the topic ‘AI meets Mechanical Engineering’.
First the stadium, then the information fair on the Campus
After the welcome, the programme continues from 10.30 am on the Central Campus. At the ‘Studying is more…’ information fair on Universitätsplatz and in the foyer of the Audimax, first-year students can discover what the TU has to offer beyond lecture halls and seminar rooms.
Who can help me if I get stuck with my studies? Where can I get involved? What does the university sports programme offer? And where can I meet people who share my interests? At the information fair, support services, faculties and student initiatives will be introducing themselves – and, above all, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make initial contacts.
Welcome Week: Settling in, finding your feet, getting to know people
For international students, getting to know the university starts a little earlier: from 12 to 17 October, the International House is hosting the Welcome Week. The programme includes campus and city tours, workshops, information sessions, group lunch breaks and speed-friending. In short: everything to help you feel at home at the TU and in Braunschweig as quickly as possible.
