► Minister’s visit to construction sites
During his summer tour, Minister for Science Falko Mohrs also stopped off at the TU Braunschweig and, together with Dietmar Smyrek, Vice-President for Human Resources, Finance and University Construction, visited the construction sites of the Centre for Circular Production of Next Batteries and Fuel Cells (CPC) at the Braunschweig Research Airport and the new Chemistry building on the Main Campus.
► “Social Sustainability Ecosystem” – Everyone is welcome to get involved
In an interview, Prof. Susanne Robra-Bissantz explains what Business Information Systems can do in the field of sustainability and how this led to the creation of the “Social Sustainability Ecosystem” project as part of the Ecoversity Initiative. Anyone interested is warmly invited to the next “Workshop for the Brave” on 3 September.

President Prof. Angela Ittel invites all TU members to a Digital Town Hall as part of the Ecoversity Initiative. Please make a note of 6 October at 10.00 am. Further information will follow in September.
► Lecture: “Taste with side effects?”
In her lecture on the chemistry of heating and processing food, Assistant Professor Jana Raupbach takes all interested parties on an easy-to-understand journey from the hob to the gastrointestinal tract. Admission to the social event on 19 August at the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum Hinter Aegidien is free, but registration is requested.
► Lecture: “The Seamlessness of Technology and the Friction We Need”
What happens when AI and other technologies increasingly “streamline” work processes in everyday academic life? What do we gain from this – and what might we lose? Emerging Tech Fellow Dr Christiaan Maasdorp will be exploring these questions during his visit to TU Braunschweig. Anyone interested is warmly invited to his English-language lecture on 27 August, followed by a World Café. Registration is open until 23 August for the Emerging Tech Lab.
► The Science and Art Lab at the Wissenschaftsschaufenster
Next week features no fewer than two events! On 18 August, Michèle Wessa (Central Institute for Mental Health, Mannheim) and Justus Schulze (TU Braunschweig) will speak about resilience in crisis situations. Those interested can find out what emerges when artist Louise Ward Morris collaborates with researchers from LENA at the exhibition opening on 20 August.
► Exhibition opening: “Wolfgang Höhn – The Power of Nuance”
There’s even more art on display at the Torhaus at the Botanical Garden of the TU Braunschweig. The exhibition by artist Wolfgang Höhn opens there on 21 August.
► “Impulshäppchen”: Future Skills – Future-proofing your career
The Central Staff Development department invites you to the next digital lunch event. On 24 August, Florian Rampelt from the Stifterverband will explain what matters as the world changes. No registration is required.
► New PhD Impact projects!
With “Troubled Water School” and “Our City Should Become Cooler”, two PhD Impact projects will be supported by the Transfer Service in the second half of 2026 with €1,000 and targeted coaching. Find out more here.
► DAAD funding programme “DWIH Innovate”
Funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, the programme supports scientific talent and start-ups from Germany. Through the German Houses of Science and Innovation (DWIH) in Brazil, India, Japan and the United States, it facilitates networking, skills development and practical experience.
► Call for Papers: German Conference on Medical Image Computing
From 14 to 16 March 2027, everything in Hanover will revolve around image processing for medicine. Anyone wishing to submit papers or abstracts for the conference organised by the Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics and Hanover Medical School has until 9 October to do so.
