Two young researchers from TU Braunschweig have been elected to the twelve-member board of the European Organ-on-Chip Society (EUROoCS). The organisation promotes organ-on-chip technologies. Scientists use microtechnology and microelectronics to simulate human organs in order to deliver results that are more significant than those obtained from animal testing. This means that animal testing can be reduced step by step or replaced entirely. With Dr Liubov Bakhchova from the Institute for CMOS Design and Dr Thomas E. Winkler from the Institute of Microtechnology, two group leaders from TU Braunschweig are now sharing responsibility for the strategy and governance of the European network. Together, they are sending an international signal about the interdisciplinary expertise and formative role of TU Braunschweig in the further development of organ-on-chip technology.
