Diabetes research: DDG doctoral award goes to Dr Melissa Asuaje Pfeifer
Dr Melissa Asuaje Pfeifer from the Institute of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacy has received the Doctoral Award from the German Diabetes Society (DDG). The DDG is one of the largest medical and scientific societies in Germany. ‘The award is a special motivation for me because it recognises that my research has successfully contributed to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of gestational diabetes. This special award also encourages me to continue my active involvement in diabetes research,’ says Dr. Pfeifer. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis of gestational diabetes and the mechanisms underlying the development of prediabetes.
