Welcome to TU Braunschweig Social media campaign for first-semester students starts in October

October 2021 is a very special month for all members of TU Braunschweig: after eighteen months of pandemic, the campus is finally coming back to life. With the start of the winter semester 2021/22, face-to-face teaching is possible again at TU Braunschweig and students are finally returning to campus.

This is a reason to celebrate, especially for first-semester students who will be able to enjoy the exciting first weeks of their studies on-site rather than spending them online. The entire university is very much looking forward to the students’ return and is working hard to prepare everything for a smooth start into the winter semester.

On the social media channels of TU Braunschweig, the month of October features a #WelcomeToTUBraunschweig campaign with special content for new students, especially on Instagram. The goals of the campaign are to give students impressions of the campus, to provide important information and tips on the start of their studies, and to awaken their excitement about studying at TU Braunschweig. Instagram followers can expect a wide range of content, e.g. insider tips showing the most beautiful places on campus, interactive elements such as quizzes, Q&As and surveys, practical study tips in short videos, and enjoyable Instagram reels will shorten the waiting time for the start of the semester. As a special highlight, there will also be a photo competition with great prizes provided by the „Braunschweigischer Hochschulbund“.

Welcoming events take place online

On Monday, 25 October 2021, TU Braunschweig will welcome its first-semester students. This year, the event will take place in form of a cosy virtual breakfast on the YouTube channel of TU Braunschweig. The first-semester students can make themselves comfortable at home and join the talk with the President, Professor Angela Ittel, the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Knut Baumann, and a representative of the General Students Committee (AStA). Two students of TU Braunschweig will lead through the event which starts at 9:00. Questions can be asked via the chat function.

At 10:30, the first semester students can join a digital fair at which university facilities and student initiatives will present their services. Students can inform themselves about offers, clarify initial questions and get in touch with contact persons at TU Braunschweig.

On Thursday, 21 October 2021, there will be an additional Welcome Reception especially for new international students. The President, Professor Angela Ittel, and Professor Rüdiger Heinze, Internationalisation Officer at TU Braunschweig, will welcome all newly enrolled international students and introduce this year’s winner of the DAAD Award for International Students. Afterwards, students can ask questions, get to know contact persons, and network with fellow international students. The event will take place online, just like the official first semester welcome event.
