► “Role2Role” for more women in STEM subjects
In January, TU Braunschweig and Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig launched the joint project “Role2Role”. Using digital formats and on-site camps, the programme introduces female high school students from all over Germany to STEM degree programmes and professions. The focus is on the future-oriented topics of batteries and fuel cells.
► Together with São Paulo: Master’s module on nutrition and metabolism
TU Braunschweig and University of São Paulo have launched a joint module in the Master’s programme in Biology. Virtual lectures, interactive group work and practical exercises on site offer a learning experience that prepares students for international scientific cooperation.
► Lower Saxony – Scotland Research and Innovation Scheme
In “Stream II – Excellence Track” of this programme, researchers may apply for up to 100.000 € to conduct joint research to lay the foundation for successful third-party funding bids. Applications may be submitted until 30 June. On 6 March and 18 March there will be online Q&A sessions.
► Science on Display
The Science and Art Lab of TU Braunschweig is the first guest in the new Wissenschaftsschaufenster (science display window) of the ForschungRegion at Waisenhausdamm 8. A wide range of events linking art and science will take place there until June. All TU members are cordially invited to the opening on Tuesday, 4 March at 6 p.m.
► Information portal with a new design: give feedback
On 3 March, the Information portal will be relaunched with a new design and useful features to make finding information more efficient and enjoyable. Improvements have been identified through the administration’s service survey and workshops. First impressions can be shared via Webex on 6 March at 9am.
► Service Centre for Diamond Open Access
The German Research Foundation (DFG) has set up a national “Service Centre for Diamond Open Access” (SeDOA) to support scientific institutions throughout Germany in their efforts to implement Diamond Open Access. The university library is one of 15 project partners of the Service Center that will start work on 1 May.
► #buntstadt conference to strengthen democracy
Last year, TU took part in the #buntstadt corporate action day “75 years of the Basic Law”. In order to gain new common perspectives for strengthening democracy, a #buntstadt conference with various workshops will take place on the northern campus on 15 March under the motto “Now more than ever! For Democracy -– Against Hate and Agitation”. Register here.
► Science Meets Care
The first event in the Science Meets Care series will take place on 19 March at 10 a.m. with an online lecture on “The care gap in science – and how we can close it”. The (in)compatibility of parenthood and an academic career is examined on the basis of recent data, and concrete solutions are presented.
► Darling of the week
… this time is a darling in our own interest: our colleague Regina Eckhoff is about to retire. For decades she has been shaping the communication of our university. With her knowledge of the TU Braunschweig, she was the walking encyclopaedia of the Communications and Press Service. She launched the freshers’ welcome event in the Eintracht stadium, set editorial standards, wrote tons of press releases and magazine articles, trained our interns with great dedication and pleasure, cultivated networks – and last but not least, she was an important part of the editorial team of “Die Woche” for many years. Thank you, dear Regina! You will be missed!
► Events
There is always something going on at TU Braunschweig. Discussions, information events, concerts and much more. Take a look at our calendar of events and get inspired.
