► New Collaborative Research Centre (SFB): Mobility Planning of the Future
The DFG is funding the new SFB/TRR “AgiMo: Data-driven agile planning for responsible mobility”, in which our university is participating. Prof. Vanessa Miriam Carlow and the SpACE Lab at ISU – Institute for Sustainable Urbanism will contribute urban planning and participatory perspectives in mobility planning.
► 30 Years of Partnership between University Rhode Island and TU Braunschweig
The University of Rhode Island and TU Braunschweig are celebrating 30 years of strategic partnership and collaboration. The opening ceremony of the celebration will be livestreamed on YouTube on Friday 6 June, starting at 9 am EDT (3 pm CEST). The event will feature remarks by our president, Angela Ittel, URI President Marc Parlange and several URI deans.
► CampusXperience: Summer vibes on 21 June
On 21 June, the Summervibes Festival will take place on the North Campus from 3 pm This free, one-day festival offers a varied programme across seven areas, inviting visitors to chat, dance, play, exercise and learn. The festival is aimed at students, employees, and external guests. Families are also welcome, and with activities for all age groups, there is something for everyone.
► PVZ: Paths through uncharted territory
The Center of Pharmaceutical Engineering (PVZ) has expanded its biotechnology facility with the addition of a cutting-edge plate separator from the GEA Group. The biotechnological value chain can now be realised at the PVZ, from pre-culture and cultivation to cell separation and active ingredient purification.
► Focus on inclusion in US schools
TU doctoral candidate Lisa-Katharina Möhlen is examining how pupils with special educational needs are taught in 35 schools across eight US states. Supported by a Fulbright scholarship, she compares American guidelines and practices with those in Germany and Austria.
► Picture of the month: Sandbox at the CampusXperience Festival
How does water flow through a landscape? What role do landforms play in heavy rain or flooding? Questions like these can be visualised with the help of the “Augmented Reality Sandbox”. Our picture of the month shows a section of this interactive exhibit, which was used by the Leichtweiß-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources to bring science to life during the CampusXperience Festival.
► Atomic clock precision and transience
On 13 June, the Audimax will explore how science and society perceive time differently. As part of the concert and lecture series “TIME”, researchers from the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence will collaborate with the “Junge Kammerchor Braunschweig” choir.
► Research in dialogue with Prof. Carmen Leicht-Scholten (RWTH Aachen University)
The project “Gender Dimensions in STEM Research (GeDiMINT)” is the latest in the “Research in Dialogue” series. On 23 June, Prof. Leicht-Scholten will give a lecture entitled “Gendering STEM: Gender as a category of analysis for socially responsible research and development in the technical sciences”. Registration is requested.
► Virtual Lunch Breaks: Education for Sustainable Development
Short, concise, inspiring: The Green Office invites all TU members to virtual lunch breaks on BigBlueButton. On three Thursdays (12:00–12:30 pm), each session will feature a 20-minute input on topics of (higher) education for sustainable development (ESD). You can find information on all topics and dates here. Please note: The sessions will be held in German.
► Impulsfonds: 15 Ecosystem Projects funded
In funding line 1 of the Impulsfonds, 15 of a total of 27 project proposals submitted in the “Seed Funding Call Ecosystem” were selected for funding. The researchers at TU Braunschweig are using this to further expand their collaborations with non-university partners in the scientific ecosystem or create new collaborations.
► Career Fair in Japan with the Research Service
As part of a DAAD delegation, Research Services take part in the “European Higher Education Fair” (EHEF 2025), a career fair for Japanese students and doctoral candidates, which is organized at Hosei University (Tokyo) and Kansai University (Osaka).
► Our Darlings of the week
… are those working hard to organise and run the University Information Day on 13 June. Whether they’re organising things, offering advice, delivering taster lectures or leading campus tours, they’re all providing prospective students with a personal and lively insight into studying and everyday life at the university.
