► Democracy Week begins
Because democracy thrives on a positive attitude, TU President Angela Ittel invites you to the raising of the #buntstadt flag in front of the Audimax on 4 September at 1 pm. From 5 September onwards, there will be further events on the theme of democracy in Braunschweig – including at our university. Do come along!
► Partnership Agreement with the Braunschweig Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The focus is on deeper cooperation between the university, the regional economy and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as on retaining skilled workers in the region in the long term. Click here for the press release.
► Next CO_Dialog at North Campus
What is the current status of the CO_Living Campus project? Following a successful first CO_Dialog in July, the project team is once again inviting people to join the discussion on 4 September from 12 noon. The meeting point is the lawn in front of the Student Pavilion on North Campus (in the event of rain, the event will take place in the foyer of Faculty 6).
► Ecoversity Expedition: Discover, understand, co-design
Collaborations across academia, society, business, politics and culture: all of this strengthens us as a region – and can be experienced at the Ecoversity Expedition from 1 to 7 October. The Ecoversity Hub is bringing together existing events for this purpose. Register your events now and become part of the expedition!
► BepiColombo: Live stream of the space manoeuvre
On 3 September, the Mercury Transfer Module will be separated from the BepiColombo spacecraft – a crucial step on the journey to Mercury’s orbit. The TU Braunschweig, through its Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics and its Institute of Data Technology and Communication Networks, is playing a key role in the scientific payload. This milestone can be watched live via the ESA livestream.
► FNN Forum: Prof. Bernd Engel re-elected for a further term of office
Prof. Bernd Engel from the elenia Institute for High Voltage and Energy Systems has once again been elected to the “Forum for Power System Technology and Operation” (FNN) within the VDE. The FNN brings together the expertise of key players in the energy sector. The aim is to jointly develop rules and recommendations for the sustainable operation of electricity grids.
► Health Week 2026: wellbeing@workandstudy
From 14 to 18 September, staff and students can once again look forward to a varied programme featuring health checks, workshops and great activities. On 16 September, there will also be keynote speeches and advisory services at the Haus der Wissenschaft.
► Business travel goes digital!

► Registration opens for Workplace Health Promotion and language courses organised by Staff Development
Registration for Workplace Health Promotion (BGF) courses and language courses, organised in cooperation with the Language Centre, for the 2026/27 winter semester opens on 31 August at 10.00 am. Browse the training programme now and secure your preferred courses!
► Workshop on “Change in Research Evaluation”
The Lower Saxony State Initiative for Research Data Management invites researchers and other interested parties to the Königliche Pferdestall in Hanover. On 5 November, the focus will be on prospects for the recognition of research data management in Lower Saxony. The workshop is free of charge, but registration is requested.
► Next week at the Wissenschaftsschaufenster with the Science & Art Lab
… begins with the “Space” workshop on 1 September, in which participants will create sculptures together with TU researchers and artists from the Kunstverein Jahnstraße. On 3 September, students Felix Mayer (HBK Braunschweig) and Max Steckel (TU Braunschweig) will provide insights into their current projects. Find out more.
► Parking management in the North & East campus areas
From Tuesday 1 September, the North and East campus areas will also be part of the paid parking scheme. Please remember to book a parking ticket in good time if you wish to use these car parks.
► A digital bouquet of flowers
… is being presented by Carsten Elsner and Jana Schubert from the University Library (UB) to Melanie Pflug from the BRICS office. “Ms Pflug organised one of our BRICS workshops so brilliantly that we’ll definitely be back!” say their colleagues from the UB.
► Our darlings of the week
… came second in this year’s Design Challenge organised by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) with their “KANGAROO” aircraft design: in just four months, a team of six students from the Technical University of Braunschweig developed a design that can be used to test various hydrogen propulsion concepts. They were supported in this by research assistants from the Institute of Aircraft Structures and Lightweight Construction. We congratulate them on this outstanding achievement!
