► Minister Olaf Lies visited NFF
On 18 July, Professor Roman Henze and engineer Torben Hegerhorst presented the autonomous shuttle RAION. The Lower Saxony Minister of Economics also gained insights into current research around vehicle concepts, intelligent vehicles, emission-free driving and the associated social transformation processes.

… Prof. Sarah Schäfer. She has been a junior professor at the Institute of Psychology since March. In an interview, she introduces herself and her work and explains why resilience is particularly important for children and young people.
► Do you already know …
the start-up Formhand? The TU start-up has been producing gripping cushions for lifting heavy objects since 2017 and has now been presented in the Exist newsletter of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.
► Plaque commemorates the librarian and polymath
… Johann Joachim Eschenburg. The last polymath was active at the Carolinum College for a total of 53 years and worked in all fields of science and the arts. Now a personality plaque at the university library commemorates the probably most famous of the Braunschweig librarians.
► Outstanding students from Bombay visited TU Braunschweig
For two and a half months, 17 students from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay visited TU Braunschweig and gained a lot of new practical experience as research interns. An enriching exchange for both sides!
► Mail from Israel
… comes from master’s student Ruth Glebe. For five months, as part of a research internship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she conducted research on soil samples that can help create intelligent control of irrigation systems.
► TU Braunschweig supports Lower Saxony-Japanese energy research
The Energy Research Centre Lower Saxony (EFZN) has been an associated supporter of the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in Tokyo since June 2023. The two TU scientists Prof. Mehtap Özaslan and Dr. Frédéric Hasché played a key role in the cooperation.
► Yearbooks digitised
The Institute of Economics has digitalised a total of 100 volumes of the “Statistical Yearbook of German Municipalities” in cooperation with the University Library and the German Association of Cities. The digital copies are now freely accessible on the TU publication server.
► The International Entrepreneurship Summer School
… takes place from 4 to 8 September and opens with a kick-off event on 27 August. It offers a practical online introduction to the world of entrepreneurship and start-up culture as well as the opportunity to further develop one’s own business idea in exchange. Free registrations are still possible.
► New round of calls for proposals of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative
In the new round of calls, higher education institutions can apply for funding to host researchers at risk. For further information, please contact Dr. Astrid Sebastian from the Research Services Team.
► Papers wanted
… for the Braunschweig Young Lecture Series of Faculty 6. In the coming winter semester, the series is entitled “Activism – Between Urgency and Inflation”. Interested persons can submit their lecture proposals until 15 September.
► Darling of the week
Four concerts, over 180 musicians and over 2500 concert visitors – the joint concerts of the TU Orchestra and the TU Choir were a complete success. All four concerts were completely sold out. Not only did the choir break the high score, but the thematic focus on video game music was also very well received by the audience.
