► Energy-saving tips for the office
Reduce the light, set the thermostat correctly, use switchable sockets: Staff member Jacqueline Breustedt shows how you can save energy even with small things in the office.
► Corona update
The corona virus will continue to affect campus life in the winter semester. The new Infection Protection Act provides for three levels of infection protection. The TU Braunschweig couples its protective measures, in particular the mask obligation, to the level of the state valid in the city area.
► “Circular battery cell production” learning factory
A new training centre will teach all process steps of battery production to future specialists and scientists in an application-oriented manner. The BMBF is funding the construction with 3.7 million euros.
► Promoting young talent with flight experiments and simulator flights
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the DLR_Uni_Summer_School was held again in Braunschweig. Students from all over Germany had the opportunity to experience the knowledge they had previously acquired in theory in practice during research flights.
► Congratulations
… to the team of the project “FLOWall”! The scientists from the Institute of Structural Design and the University of Bologna wins the “Iconic Award 2022: Innovative Architecture”. They convinced with their concept to use digital technologies for the design of urban coastal protection structures.
► Of coyotes and humans
Dr Michael Strohbach from the Institute of Geoecology is currently investigating human-wildlife interactions in settlements, using coyotes on Rhode Island as an example. His research data should help to improve the coexistence of humans and coyotes.
► Artificial Intelligence – Intelligent Art?
From 7 to 9 October, the transdisciplinary final conference of the project “From Avant-garde to Algorithm” will focus on human-machine interaction and creative practice. Registration for the bilingual conference is still possible.
► Orientation study programme ends
77 participants in the current class took advantage of the opportunity to try out studying for two semesters and find out which degree programme suits them. After four rounds, the orientation programme came to an end in the summer semester.
► Translational Research and Medicine
In autumn, the Translational Alliance in Lower Saxony TRAIN will start a new year of the part-time continuing education programme “Translational Research & Medicine: From Idea to Product”. The kick-off event will take place on 6 October.
► New courses in Workplace Health Promotion
The start of the winter semester also marks the beginning of the new courses in workplace health promotion. From 10 October, interested persons can register online for the diverse range of courses and seminars.
► New contact persons: BEM and AGG Complaints Office
As of 1 October, Ina von Zelewski, Department 13 – Professional and Personal Development, will take over the tasks of Corporate Integration Management (BEM). The tasks of the complaints office according to the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) will be carried out by Marie Kilian in Department 11 – Legal Office.
► Digital bouquet for Prof. Maike Looß
Prof. Maike Looß is retiring on 1 October. The Schule-Uni AG and the Institute of Plant Biology would like to thank her most sincerely for setting up and managing the Green School in the Botanical Garden as an extracurricular place of learning and for her work on the board of the Schule-Uni AG.

The scholarship team presents a digital bouquet of flowers to the colleagues of the Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum für Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF) (Lower Saxony Research Centre for Automotive Engineering) for their great support at the networking meeting of the German scholarship holders and sponsors at the premises of the NFF.
► Darling of the week
Our personal darlings are our volunteers. You know them as editors of the “Woche”. They give us excellent support in the editorial office and on social media. The fact that not only the quality of their work is right, but also the quality of their training, is underlined by the “Award for Exemplary Training of Volunteers” from the Federal Association of University Communication, which the Press and Communication Service was awarded for the fourth time in a row.
