► University Development 2030: How does the future university look like?

In late June, the University Development Days of TU Braunschweig took place for the second time. We seized the opportunity and asked President Angela Ittel for a mid-term assessment for the University Development 2030. We also spoke with participants about the insights and impressions they gained from the event.

► Safe storage of and fire suppression in automotive high-voltage batteries

How fast does a fire spread from densely stored lithium-ion traction batteries, how much heat is released and how is the fire extinguished? The Centre for Fire Research (ZeBra) is carrying out real-life fire tests as part of a joint project.

► Scicomm Support national helpline launched

The project is aimed at scientists and communicators who are affected by digital violence, discrediting media campaigns and other forms of attacks in science communication. Scicomm-Support is a joint service of the Federal Association of University Communication and Science in Dialogue. The Press and Communication is providing advice.

► New large-scale equipment for aeronautics research

The joint workshop of the Aeronautics Research Center Niedersachsen (NFL) has been equipped with a new moving milling machine. It enables faster and more precise machining of large structural components, thus expanding the experimental capabilities of the participating institutes and the Cluster of Excellence SE²A.

► Places still available at the Niedersachsen Technikum

For young women who have passed their Abitur and are now looking for an exciting MINT profession, Technische Universität Braunschweig, together with numerous companies in the region, offers the Niedersachsen-Technikum. The practical orientation gives participants insights into technical and computer science professions.

► Long-term consequences of the pandemic on employees

The COVID-19 Research Network Lower Saxony (COFONI) has been investigating the impact of the pandemic on the work environment since the beginning of 2020. The studies will be continued in cooperation with the Cooperation Centre Universities – Labour Unions South-East Lower Saxony under the direction of Prof. Hajo Holst from the University of Osnabrück.

► Awarded: The best teams at the “Day of the Young Software Developers”

On 20 July, aaround 190 students presented the results of their software development internship. A jury of experts from science, business and the student body awarded prizes to the three best teams.

► Research Funding: The Henriette Herz Scouting Programme

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Henriette Herz Scouting Programme offers experienced researchers the opportunity to nominate up to three international junior talents for a Humboldt Fellowship.
