► A new model in the wind tunnel test

Many small propellers along the wings can reduce weight, noise and energy consumption of aircraft. The CICLOP project is investigating the interactions between propellers and wings. For experiments, a model with engines and propellers is created and tested in the wind tunnel.

► Detecting stress in the cockpit

Despite all safety measures and automation processes, the crew in the aircraft cockpit can be exposed to unpredictable stress. To detect such stress situations at an early stage, the REPS project is testing pilot monitoring devices in real commercial aircraft.

► Psychology in the evening

Can social platforms like Facebook be addictive? This is the topic of the first lecture of “Psychology in the Evening” on February 3. The lecture series from the Institute of Psychology takes place as an online format.

► Of Swedish herring file and beaten vegetables

“Kapselwurf” is the name of the podcast of the DFG Priority Program “Translation Cultures of the Early Modern Period”. Three scientists from the Institute of German Studies present their project – and some translation failures.

► 300,000 euros for further development of teaching

Six “Innovative Teaching and Learning Concepts” of the “Innovation Plus” program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science will be funded at the TU Braunschweig in 2021/22.

► Self-promotion

Our new image brochure (at present in german only) offers an insight into the focal points and highlights of TU Braunschweig and reveals a few things about life in our city of science. A big thank you to everyone who contributed. Take a look and distribute it (digitally) widely!

► Virtual intercultural experience

The “Scout digital” program builds bridges between international and domestic students. Registration for the summer semester has just started.

► Software Engineering Conference – February 22-26

Lectures and exchanges on software engineering make up the digital conference of the Gesellschaft für Informatik. Free registration as a participant is still possible until January 31.

► MWK EFRE promotes the fight against infectious diseases

EFRE-Applications with “approaches to solutions for prevention, diagnosis and analysis to combat infectious diseases” can still be submitted to NBank until January 31. If you have any questions, Anne Wolff in the Research Service and European Office will support you.

► Darling of the week

Since the Covid-19 outbreak, our darling of the week has been constantly making science-based pandemic response understandable. This week even in a way that children can get a picture of virology. Professor Melanie Brinkmann showed what her work looks like in the ZDF children’s news program “logo!”. A look at the No Covid strategy, which she co-authored, is also worthwhile.
