► Vaccinated, tested or recovered
Planning for the winter semester 2021/22 is progressing! We are continuing to pursue our goal of providing extensive face-to-face teaching on campus for the winter semester. In order to ensure the best possible protection against infection for all of you, access to classroom teaching in the winter semester will be open to all symptom-free vaccinated or recovered persons and those who have tested negative – according to the “3G” rule.
► Dance of the molecules
Jens Krumsieck and Professor Martin Bröring from the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry developed a method to detect “molecular gymnastics” of haem proteins. For their field of research, it is a long-awaited tool.
► Maria-Weber-Grant
The Hans-Böckler-Stiftung finances partial substitutions for teaching in order to create free space for research. Junior professors and postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines are eligible to apply.
► Digital inauguration of our President
Executive Board, University Council and Senate invite you to the inauguration of the President, University Professor Dr. Angela Ittel. It will be held on Thursday, 2 September 2021, at 18 hrs in the Audimax. At the moment, only a maximum of 100 people can gather there. Therefore, we will broadcast the event digitally on Webex. You will find the corresponding link in our calendar shortly before the event.
► Darling of the Week
Even if a sea cucumber might look like a culinary highlight: Our darling of the week is undoubtedly fascinating, but probably not something for the lunch break. With the video series “Anatomy Insights,” the Zoological Institute teaches the composition of model organisms like frogs, crawfish and geckos. And it is even in English ;-). A big thank you to Katharina Ruthsatz and the whole team for their excellent science communication.
