Actively Shaping Internationalisation Student DAAD Conference in December at TU Braunschweig
What is the current state of internationalisation at universities in Germany? What impact do global crises have on the internationalisation efforts of universities? What role does racism play at German universities, and what can student bodies do about it?
Representatives of student bodies and student organisations, as well as universities and higher education organisations from across Germany, will pursue this and other questions at TU Braunschweig from 13 to 15 December 2024.
The student DAAD conference “Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions – Opportunities and Challenges for Student Bodies” will explore various aspects of internationalisation and its impact on universities and students through workshops and lectures. The focus of the conference will be on actively engaging with questions of internationalisation, exchanging knowledge and tools for one’s own work, and developing shared perspectives.
The conference will address pressing issues such as the shortage of skilled workers, the housing crisis faced by international students, migration experiences of international female students, the situation of refugee students, and challenges in dealing with immigration authorities. Additionally, workshops will provide insights into topics such as the mental health of international students and participation in European university networks. A social programme organised by the AStA of TU Braunschweig also offers the opportunity to network and get to know the conference location Braunschweig better.
The three-day conference is organised by representatives of student bodies within the DAAD, the Federal Association of Foreign Students (BAS), the AStA of TU Braunschweig, and the Free Association of Student Bodies (fzs) e.V., in cooperation with TU Braunschweig. The conference is funded by the DAAD with resources from the Federal Foreign Office.
The insights and outcomes of the conference will contribute to the work of the participating organisations.
