That was the Health Week 2024
From 3 to 7 June 2024, the Company Health Management Health Week of the Professional and Personnel Development department took place under the motto wellbeing@work&study. The organisation team would like to use this article to thank the participants, lecturers and supporters.
At the start of the Health Week, Vice President Professor Manfred Krafczyk emphasised the relevance of health in the context of work and study in the auditorium of the Haus der Wissenschaft. Tobias Rahm and Dr. Marcus Friedrich followed with their motivating and entertaining presentations on happiness research and learning strategies. At lunchtime, Professor Michael Linden from the Charité in Berlin reported on the state of research into eudaimonia, a successful lifestyle, from a psychotherapeutic perspective.
The programme also included many presentations on a wide range of health topics, which staff and students listened to with interest and then participated in discussions. “There are so many exciting topics, I can’t even decide,” said one employee. The presenters enjoyed the dialogue with the audience and received a pineapple as a thank you in the spirit of health.
Tuesday began with an exciting online presentation by Anne-Christin Eggers from the Family Office on “Motherhood and Mental Load”, followed by a lively discussion. For some employees, the highlights of the week were the exercise programmes in the Botanical Garden: “Qigong & Taiji” and “Yoga and Mindfulness at the End of the Day” provided moments of peace and relaxation in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Botanical Garden. While students were able to discuss the results of the “How are you?” student survey with Professor Knut Baumann, the Community Café in the Sandkasten-Center offered coffee and biscuits to discuss “Engagement and Health”.
Wednesday and Thursday were dedicated to holistic health and well-being, with presentations on resilience (Junior Professor Sarah Schäfer), healthy sleep (Dr. Gabriele Krause), self-care (Dr. Yvonne Henze) and nutrition (Stephanie Missler). “Sarah Schäfer’s talk in particular gave me some very interesting ideas for myself,” said one employee afterwards.
The lecture series was accompanied by a colourful array of information stands in the foyer of the Haus der Wissenschaft. Employees were invited to take part in the “Employee Survey on Working Conditions and Health” organised by the Professional and Personnel Development department (ZPE). As a reward, they were allowed to spin the wheel of fortune, which, according to some employees, was “awesome”. The Studierendenwerk Ost-Niedersachen offered students a series of posters on the subject of water and infusion water to try, which was enthusiastically received directly at the stand. The depression network “Depresso” and several self-help groups for paralysis, depression and anxiety were also present.
A week full of new impressions and impulses on the subject of health lies behind us. If you are curious, you can now watch a recording of the presentations on the Company Health Management website.
