Double award winner
Xenia Steinbach, Lecturer in the History of Science and Technology at the Department of History, was awarded twice last month for her outstanding dissertation, which she defended with “summa cum laude”. Her dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr Bettina Wahrig from the Institute for the History of Pharmacy at TU Braunschweig and Prof. Dr Heiko Stoff from MHH Hannover.
Xenia Steinbach’s work focuses on the question of how the idea that hormones influence the human psyche became widely accepted in science and the public in the first half of the 20th century.
For her dissertation, she received the Max Dessoir Prize for outstanding work in the history of psychology from the German Psychological Society at a conference in Bochum in September. Moreover, she was recently awarded the Dissertation Prize of the Prof. Rudolf Schmitz Study Foundation 2023 for outstanding dissertations relevant to the history of pharmacy, which comes with a 1,500 euro printing subsidy.
