Where football and music meet End-of-semester concerts in the spirit of football

Two halves, penalty shoot-outs, stadium announcer, trophy presentation: for the three end-of-semester concerts from 6 July, the Audimax will be transformed into a stadium. Under the motto “The ball is round. And a concert lasts 90 minutes”, musicians from the TU Orchestra will take visitors on a musical journey through an extraordinary football match.

In keeping with the European Football Championships in their own country, the TU Braunschweig orchestra will be putting on a varied programme to show how well football and music go together and that football is not an unmusical affair. Not only are the tangible musical elements taken up, but football also provides the dramaturgy. The concert is logically divided into two halves with a break, time-outs, extra time, penalty shoot-out, kick-off and final whistle, line-up with national anthems, trophy presentation, lap of honour and interviews on the sidelines. The match is accompanied by the stadium announcer, actor Götz van Ooyen: he interviews players, coaches and guests, introduces VIPs, announces the team line-ups, provides information on the score, goal scorers and substitutes and rehearses stadium chants with the audience. But even before the game and during the interval, it’s like being in the stadium. A marching band plays on the pitch. Hot dogs and beer are sold on the sidelines. A camera team provides close-ups of exciting match situations.

Admission to the concerts is free.

Tickets will only be issued one hour before the concert starts in the Audimax (Universitätsplatz 3, 38106 Braunschweig).
