Top performance meets funding 126 students at TU Braunschweig benefit from Deutschlandstipendien
Thanks to the support of 43 sponsors, 126 Deutschlandstipendien (Germany Scholarships) were awarded at Technische Universität Braunschweig in the 2025/26 academic year. Together with the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, which contributes half of each scholarship, this resulted in a total funding amount of €453,600. The funding allows scholarship holders to concentrate more on their studies and also gives them access to a strong network. The ceremonial presentation of the certificates took place on 29 January 2026 in the presence of many sponsors.
Since the programme began, TU Braunschweig has been able to build up a considerable network of sponsors from industry, foundations, associations and private individuals. This year, thanks to the 43 sponsors, 126 students, including 63 female students, can look forward to receiving a scholarship.
“For me, the Deutschlandstipendium means not only financial support but above all motivation and appreciation. It is a sign that commitment, perseverance and passion are worthwhile. It is particularly emotional for me that I am the first in my family to study. The fact that I am following this path and am now also receiving support fills me with great pride,” reports teacher training student Selin Kontzia-Hasan.
Scholarship for outstanding achievement
However, the awarding of the Deutschlandstipendium at TU Braunschweig is not based solely on outstanding academic performance. Rather, it is intended that scholarship holders look beyond their field of study and recognise connections in larger contexts. In addition, voluntary work, a sense of responsibility or special personal circumstances are taken into account when awarding scholarships.
Business informatics student and scholarship holder Ahmad Iqbal Bin Mohd Shahir Shamsir describes the impact of the Deutschlandstipendium on his commitment as follows: “The scholarship not only enables me to study, but also to play an active role in shaping the future. I can use my own experiences as an international student to support others and help improve structures. This opportunity is invaluable and something for which I am deeply grateful.”
Advantages for sponsors
The Deutschlandstipendium not only enables sponsors to allow scholarship holders to focus more on their studies. Many companies also appreciate the opportunity it gives them to establish contacts with young talent.
Events, mentoring programmes or, for example, the opportunity to get to know the company as a working student offer good opportunities to present the company and thus inspire the skilled workers of tomorrow at an early stage.
TU President Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel is convinced of the positive impact of the scholarship for scholarship holders and sponsors: “By being selected as a Deutschlandstipendium holder, our students gain access to a network of other scholarship holders and sponsors that has grown steadily in recent years and from which all members benefit: Through regular contact with scholarship holders and university staff, sponsors gain valuable insights into the thinking and actions of tomorrow’s employees, as well as into our current teaching and research work. With the Deutschlandstipendium, our talented students have the opportunity to intensively develop and further their own thoughts and creative ideas. However, we have only been able to achieve this unique added value for our students through close and trusting cooperation with sponsoring companies, foundations, associations and private individuals.”
By supporting a scholarship holder at TU Braunschweig, sponsors are not only demonstrating their social commitment. They are also passing on some of their own success to a generation that will shape the future, thereby strengthening the region.
