Open Slots in the Niedersachsen-Technikum Internships and university experience for high school graduates
A-levels – and now? For young women who have just completed their A-levels and are looking for an interesting STEM career, Technische Universität Braunschweig, together with numerous companies in the region, offers the Niedersachsen-Technikum. This practical orientation programme gives participants an insight into professions that young women often don’t even consider at first. An information event for the next round will take place on 7 May 2024 at TU Braunschweig.
The next round of the Niedersachsen-Technikum starts on 1 September and lasts six months. It includes a paid internship in a company four days a week. Here, the young women can experience the day-to-day work of an engineer or computer scientist. Another part of the programme is the weekly university day, which the technicians spend at TU Braunschweig. This includes regular attendance at a course with examination and credit transfer options, as well as visits to institutes, excursions and lots of helpful information about studying and courses.
The Niedersachsen-Technikum is a statewide programme that TU Braunschweig is now running for the 13th time. 80-90% of the participants go on to choose a technical degree or technical apprenticeship. Female technicians from the first years of the programme are now working as engineers in industrial companies or research institutions.
The participating companies are once again offering a wide range of internships in the next round of the Niedersachsen-Technikum. Interested young women can apply to Volkswagen AG, Salzgitter AG, Edag Engineering Group AG and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, among others.
At an information event on 7 May 2024 at 6 pm at TU Braunschweig in the lecture hall PK 4.122 Altgebäude, former female engineers will report on their experiences. Britta Böckmann, who is responsible for the programme at TU Braunschweig, will explain the content, procedure and application process.
