Lower Saxony’s Minister of Science Björn Thümler today presented Prof. Angela Ittel with the letter of appointment as President of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Already in March, the Senate and the University Council of the Technische Universität had elected the long-time Vice President of the TU Berlin for Strategic Development, Junior Scholars and Teacher Education.
“Prof. Ittel brings with her both extensive leadership experience and experience in the field of strategic university development,” said Lower Saxony’s Science Minister Björn Thümler. “I am particularly pleased that she has extensive experience in the area of the excellence strategy. As vice president, she was involved in the preparation of the successful collaborative application of the Berlin universities. I am certain that with her communication skills and powerful visionary demeanor, she will now enrich Lower Saxony’s higher education landscape.”
Prof. Ittel follows in office Prof. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, who held the position until September 30, 2020. Since then, Vice President Prof. Katja Koch has served as acting head of the university. Ittel’s term begins July 1. “I am very happy to now serve as president at the fantastic TU Braunschweig in its exciting environment,” said the president-elect. “Through the many conversations, the dedication of highly committed colleagues and staff, and the extremely pleasant and constructive cooperation with the MWK, the transition has been a very good experience. This is a good basis for a promising and promising future collaboration.”
