Welcome, International Students! Welcome Week for international first semester students begins on 11 April

TU Braunschweig warmly welcomes its newly enrolled international students. The International House as well as student initiatives, projects from the faculties, and other TU institutions offer a vibrant programme and many opportunities to get to know the most important offers, services and contact persons.

After the purely online-based Welcome Weeks of the last few semesters, Marilena Zitka, International Student Support Coordinator at the International House, is pleased that at least a partial switch to in person attendance is likely to be possible again: “It is very important to us that our international students feel comfortable. The start of their studies in a foreign country is a big step, and as a university we want to give them extra support. We are very pleased that we can now meet the newly enrolled students in person again.”

Once again, however, the Welcome Reception, hosted by TU students Malak Weheba and Dilara Aktas, will have to take place online (Monday, 11 April, 6:00 p.m.), where President Professor Angela Ittel, among others, will welcome the students. After the official welcome, the participants will have the opportunity to talk directly to various institutions and members of TU Braunschweig or to network with fellow students in an interactive online tool. Meetings for lunch together will provide an additional opportunity for this: From 11 to 14 April, tables will be reserved for international students in Mensa 1 every day between 12:00 and 14:00, provided the Mensa is then allowed to resume regular operations. The decision on this is still pending.

In the further course of the Welcome Week, the University Library will give a guided tour, the Sports Centre will provide an overview of the sports programme, and the Language Centre will hold information events on the language courses and German language courses offered. The inTU programme of Faculties 3 and 4 offers additional dates to get to know each other. Moreover, there will be specially tailored information events for students, in which the staff of the International House will provide students with the most important information about studying and living in Braunschweig. All Welcome Week events take place at least once in German and once in English.

Those who need a change of scenery after the study-related events can look forward to a varied leisure programme: The International House, together with the Tourist Info of the city of Braunschweig, offers an evening guided tour of the city and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) invites you to go bouldering, speedfriending and bowling together.

TU Braunschweig wishes all international students a great start to their studies!
