► Happy Birthday TU Braunschweig!

For the 275th birthday of our university, we will have the roof of the House of Science shining in anniversary colours until Saturday inclusive, starting at 9:30 pm. The local video and projection artist christo.cc has projected texts, hashtags and images on various buildings. His video with spectacular projections on TU buildings is available on youtube, as is the greeting message of our President, Professor Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla.

► When steel gets tired

Marcel Grabowski is researching in the Research Training Group 2075 “Modelling the constitutive evolution of building materials and structures with respect to aging” to detect material fatigue in structural steel at an early stage. We present a short portrait of the young scientist.

► More safety for autonomous driving

We congratulate Andreas Bär, Marvin Klingner and Professor Tim Fingscheidt for a Best Paper Award. They developed an algorithm that protects autonomous vehicles against hackers.

► Space technology for the economy

“Our goal is to transfer technologies from outer space to applications in business here on Earth.” With this claim, Philip Heinisch and Katharina Ostaszewski from the Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics founded their own company, funded with 100.000 Euro.

► Ideal recycling economy

The innovation network “Recycling 4.0 – Digitisation as the key to Advanced Circular Economy” has been nominated for the REGIOSTARS Award of the European Commission in the category “Sustainable growth – Circular economy for a green Europe”. In addition to our Institutes of Machine Tools and Production Technology and Automotive Management and Industrial Production, TU Clausthal and Ostfalia are also involved. We keep our fingers crossed!

► With the licence to teach

A license to teach them all: With the new Certificate of University Teaching in Lower Saxony, lecturers receive recognised proof of their teaching commitment through the Competence Centre for University Didactics Lower Saxony.

► Masks with TU logo

The Zentralstelle für Weiterbildung now also sells community masks – in different colours and with different patterns. The fabric masks were produced by a regional supplier and cost 8 euros each.

► Pedalling for the TU

From August 30th on you can start again with the mileage collection at the city cycling in Braunschweig! You can already register now. We hope to have as large a team as possible from the TU Braunschweig so that we can top last year’s 22nd place. Every kilometer counts!

► Darling of the week

Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away… We are excited about our favorite of the week! The new research plane, supported by the Klaus Tschiera Foundation, landed in Braunschweig for the first time on Thursday. The airport fire brigade welcomed the Cessna F406 with two water fountains in front of the hangar at the research airport.
